Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has announced the Telangana State's ambitious target to generate 40,000 MW of green power by 2035.
Addressing the 4th World Renewable Energy Investors Meet at Gandhinagar in Gujarat on Monday, the Deputy Chief Minister emphasised the importance of reliable energy for economic and social development in today's fast-growing world.
He noted that India as a whole is aiming to produce 500 GW of green energy, with Telangana playing a key role due to its dynamic economy and fast-developing sectors such as IT and pharmaceuticals.
Bhatti Vikramarka elaborated on Telangana’s comprehensive energy policies and its plans to become a leader in green energy production.
The Deputy Chief Minister also outlined plans for upcoming projects in Telangana, including the Artificial Intelligence City and the Fourth City, as well as the development of the Musi Riverfront.
The State government’s initiatives will further promote sustainable energy generation in Telangana. Additionally, the State is working on a Regional Ring Road (RRR) to connect key industrial corridors, which will further drive the expansion of green power projects, he said.
Bhatti Vikramarka further stated that Telangana is rich in resources and has a skilled workforce, making it an attractive destination for businesses in the green energy sector. The State’s abundant sunlight, with over 300 sunny days per year, allows for an estimated 26.4 GW of solar power capacity. Telangana is also one of the top eight States in India for wind power, with the potential to generate up to 54 GW at a height of 150 meters, he explained.
In order to further encourage green energy development, Telangana is formulating a comprehensive Green Power Policy, he disclosed.
On the occasion, Bhatti Vikramarka has invited investors and innovators from various industries to collaborate with the state on this mission, stating that this endeavor is not only for the benefit of Telangana but for the entire country and humanity as a whole.
He extended a special invitation to those interested in investing in the solar sector to visit Hyderabad, assuring them of strong support from the State government. The event was attended by Prime Minister Modi, along with Chief Ministers from Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Rajasthan, and other key officials.
